cobalt-precorrin 5A hydrolase EC#: 3.7.1.12; ChemWhat Code: 1381791

Product Name cobalt-precorrin 5A hydrolase
Example Structure Example Structure of cobalt-precorrin 5A hydrolase EC#: 3.7.1.12
Synonyms CbiG
EC Number 3.7.1.12
CAS Registry Number
Comments This enzyme hydrolyses the ring A acetate ¦Ä-lactone of cobalt-precorrin-5A resulting in the loss of the C-20 carbon and its attached methyl group in the form of acetaldehyde. This is a key reaction in the contraction of the porphyrin-type tetrapyrrole ring and its conversion to a corrin ring in the anaerobic (early cobalt insertion) adenosylcobalamin biosynthesis pathway.
Cofactor
History
Reactions Cobalt-precorrin-5A + H(2)O = cobalt-precorrin-5B + acetaldehyde + 2 H(+).
